Responsible USA Siamese Catteries
If you have decided that a purebred Siamese kitten is the
purr-fect match for you, it's of utmost importance that you
acquire your kitten from a reputable US Siamese breeder. Just
as dogs and puppies are exploited by puppy mills, backyard breeders
and pet stores in the US - so are purebred cats and kittens.
Purchasing a Siamese kitten from any source other than a responsible
breeder can be a one-way ticket to heartbreak, since kittens
from these sources can have a shopping list of health and behavior
problems.
What should I look for in a responsible Siamese cat breeder?
1. Knowledge -
A responsible Siamese cat breeder will be very well educated
about the breed, and health and temperament of her cats and
kittens.
2. Care
- A responsible Siamese cat breeder is caring. Her cats and kittens
are loved and treated as members of the family.
3. Concern - A
responsible Siamese cat breeder will be concerned about the wellbeing
of her cats and kittens. She'll want to know a lot about you,
and put you through a "screening" process before agreeing to
place one of her kittens with you.
4. Accountability
- A responsible Siamese cat breeder will follow a carefully selective
breeding program. The goal of each breeding should be to produce
the healthiest, soundest kittens possible, while adhering to
the breed standard set forth by the governing cat breed association.
In addition to this, the breeder should offer, and stand behind,
a reasonable health guarantee on her kittens.
5. Commitment
- A responsible Siamese cat breeder will be committed to the
welfare of her kittens. She should be willing to offer you a
reasonable amount of post-sale support to answer any questions
you may have as you adjust to life as a kitten owner.
She should want to keep in touch with you and receive photos
and updates on how your kitten is doing. The breeder should
also be willing to assist you in re-homing your kitten, should
circumstances prevent your fulfilling your commitment to raising
the feline, for any reason.
The following Siamese
catteries meet our guidelines for responsible cat breeders.

North Carolina - Lexington - BritishMists Siamese Cattery - I am a small Siamese Cattery located in Lexington, North Carolina (about halfway between Charlotte and Greensboro). I am a closed Cattery to protect the health of all my girls and boys who have been tested and are FIV and FeLV NEGATIVE. My queens and kings descend from well known CFA Grand Champion and Champion blood lines and produce kittens that are excellent examples of the MODERN DAY/SHOW Siamese type.

My focus is to breed high quality Siamese Kittens with excellent temperaments and lots of personality. That means my goal is quality not quantity. I only have a few litters a year and breed more as a hobby than a business. With veterinarian fees quickly approaching $200 per kitten, the cost of food, and other necessities, there is little if any profit made from my litters. I do this for the love of the Siamese breed and to share the special bond these wonderful cats have with people.

All kittens are born and raised indoors...in our home. They are not outside in a caged Cattery. This gives us hands on access to our kittens and their parents at all times. Yes,our Mothers and Fathers are inside living with us...always. In this way, we are giving kittens the best socialization possible before they go to their new homes. They are exposed to all the common household noises, and some uncommon ones, from birth which I think is important in the development of their temperaments. Kittens are not only handled by myself and my husband...but my children too. This way the kitties get used to little hands also. My children are taught to hold the highest respect not only for our Siamese family members, but for all animals in general. I think thats important if you are thinking of purchasing a kitten from me and you have children.

Once our kittens are old enough to run around, they live underfoot like the rest of our Siamese. This way, they know what being a part of a family is really like. We have our kings and their queens around so the kittens have an extended family giving them loving care and lots of opportunity for some Siamese play time. I think this is beneficial to them that they can also get along with other cats. They are very much loved and spoiled rotten before going to future loving homes. We keep our cats forever and try to pick families that will do the same for our kittens. Our adults are part of our family and live out their lives with us even after they are retired from breeding. We do not sell our retired breeders like most catteries do. It would be like giving away one of our children.

Thank you for looking an please visit my website. It contains a lot of useful information gathered from friends and research. Feel free to contact me with any questions and/or suggestions.
I hope to hear from you soon....Alease. If no kittens are available at certain times,I will be happy to add you to my waiting list. Early reservations are accepted as my babies tend to go fast due to their Sweet and Loving nature. I can provide references if required of past adoptee families. Also, check the Testimonials page on my website and see what my past customers are saying.
