A must-read for anyone who has a Himalayan cat! April 1, 2000 28 out of 32 found this review helpful
I just got two Himalyan adult cats and bought this book. As soon as the book arrived, I began applying some of the cat care hints, such as how to care for their long hair. I also appreciated knowing the origin of Himalayans (Persian + Siamese), because it explains much about their personality/intelligence. I recommend the book for anyone who is getting, or already has, a Himalayan.
Simple & Straight forward October 31, 2003 Y. BASS (Chicago) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I recently bought a flame point breeder/show quality himalayan kitten and was very interested in what the book had to say.The book is very informative and straight forward in telling the origins of how himmies came about, how to care, treat, nurse the cats. It covers kittens behaviours, sexual behaviour, guides you in how to choose a breeder and questions to ask, how to breed and show your himmy so all in all, it's a pretty informative manual with glossy pics of some beautiful himmies and regular black/white illustrations. You won't be disappointed!
A Terrific Book! February 17, 2002 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed this book -- it's well written and helpful for both new and experienced cat lovers. I've owned Himmies for many years and all of the advice is useful and accurate. Every chapter is packed with good information; I particularly liked the chapters on grooming, nutrition, and understanding cat behavior. And the price is certainly right compared to other breed books!
Thinking of adding a "Himmie" to your home??? A Must Have!! October 12, 2008 oshkosh (PA) After cat sitting my grandson's "Adorable Himmie" for six weeks last summer, I was completely in love with these unique little creatures.
I have ALWAYS had a dog as a pet, currently a Yorkie Poo, and repeatedly
stated I would NEVER have a Cat...I didn't like cats...That was before I met "Oshkosh." Well, to make a long story short, I googled "Amazon" found several books about Himalayan Cats and other informational books. They all were used books, excellent condition, very informative and aided me in my decision to purchase a lilac point Himalayan kitten, Mr. Periwinkle, and I continue to buy cat books from Amazon. Do the same, you will be pleased.
Himmy's are the best cats and this book backs that up! November 14, 2008 Kimberly L. Hill (Southern California) I have a himalayan cat and let me tell you they are the best cats EVER!!! They are docile, sweet, follows you around like a puppy dog. Tiffany is not a lap cat but she sure is a proxmity cat, everywhere you are, she wants to be, and that includes the restroom, she'll sneak right in behind ya. She is soooooooooooooo sweet. Bless my baby's heart, Tiff is 14 now and has just been diagnosed with diabetes. We're so good at giving him insulin now I"m a pro :). Anyway, I'd have 10 himalayans if I could, these are the best breed. The siamese gives the himalayan the beautiful markings but fortunately the personality of the himalayan comes from the persion; what a perfect combination. Everyone that sees Tiffy thinks she's the most gorgeous cat and she's got the disposition of a complete sweetheart. She loves to be brushed and we often get her groomed in a lion cut which not only looks darling but keeps the shedding down too.
